JoAnn Danczak, 82, of St. Paul, died Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at The Oaks Adept Nursing and Rehab in Central City.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 17, 2026, at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in St. Paul. Rev. Vince Parsons will celebrate the Mass, assisted by Deacon Phil Lukasiewicz. Burial will follow at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery in Ashton.

There will be a meal and time of fellowship prior to the Mass at 12 noon Monday at the Sts. Peter & Paul Parish Life Center.

A parish rosary will be recited at 3 p.m. Sunday at the church. Visitation will follow the rosary from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.

JoAnn was born June 28, 1944, in Loup City, the daughter of Andrew and Gertrude (Krolikowski) Waskowiak. She was the youngest of eight daughters.

She grew up on the family farm east of Loup City and attended Schaupps Country School before going on to Loup City High School, where she graduated with the Class of 1958. Following graduation, she worked as a switchboard operator in Loup City. She then moved to Columbus, where she worked at Becton Dickinson, and later moved to Lincoln to work as an operator for the Bell Telephone Company.

On July 10, 1965, JoAnn was united in marriage to Bernard Danczak at St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church in Loup City. The couple first made their home on a farm near Arcadia and later farmed near Loup City before purchasing a farm north of Cotesfield. They remained on the farm until moving to St. Paul in 1992, where JoAnn lived the remainder of her life.

From 1982 until 2014, JoAnn worked at McCain Foods in Grand Island. She also spent time cooking at the American Legion Club in St. Paul and at the St. Paul Senior Center.

JoAnn was a former member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Scotia, where she was active in its Council of Catholic Women. She was currently a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in St. Paul, its Council of Catholic Women, and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court #1215 Sacred Heart of St. Paul. Over the years, JoAnn was also involved in 4-H with her children and sold Avon for many years.

JoAnn had many joys and hobbies throughout her life. She was an excellent cook and was especially known for her fried chicken, pork chops, and spare ribs and sauerkraut. She enjoyed shopping for clothes and attending garage sales, and loved making candy, especially at Christmastime, when she would fill her grandchildren’s stockings with her homemade treats. She also made sure their Easter baskets were full and enjoyed baking special birthday cakes for each of her grandchildren.

JoAnn was a talented seamstress who could sew just about anything. Above all, she loved family parties and get-togethers and treasured any opportunity to have her family together. JoAnn and Bernard also loved dancing together, especially to polka music.

JoAnn is survived by her husband, Bernard Danczak of St. Paul; her children and spouses, Bernadine and Jay Cutsor of Omaha, Larry and Sarah Danczak of Bellevue, Jason and Lauren Danczak of Grand Island, and Jennifer and Jeremiah Raymo of Wichita, Kansas; grandchildren, Jackson Cutsor, Trevor Cutsor, Danielle Cutsor, Josslyn Danczak, Hailey Danczak, Alexandra Danczak, Lily Danczak, Mick Danczak, Broc Raymo, and Callie Raymo; sisters, Leona Bendykowski of Arcadia and Emily Gregoski of St. Paul; and in-laws, Sister Lee Anne Danczak of Grand Island, Jim and Maureen Kahrhoff of Grand Island, and Ray and Fran Danczak of Sun City, Arizona.

JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents; son, Steven Danczak; granddaughters, Gabriella Ann Danczak and Faith Marie Danczak; sisters and brothers-in-law, Rita and Paul Gorecki, Evelyn and Raymond Gorecki, Adeline and Reginald Jonak, Alta and Clemence Mostek, and Loretta and Ed Hulinsky; brothers-in-law, Bill Gregoski and Melvin Bendykowski; and Bernard’s siblings, Leon and Virginia Danczak and John Danczak.
