Tim D. Hoffman, 72, of Loup City, died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2025, at Bryan Medical Center East in Lincoln.
Tim chose to have his body cremated. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, Dec. 6, 2025, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Litchfield Community Center Winters Building, 204 N Main Street in Litchfield, NE to come together to share memories and tell stories about Tim.
Memorials are suggested to the Loup City Fire Department.
Peters Funeral Home of St. Paul is assisting Tim’s family with arrangements.
Tim was born on March 15, 1953, at Kearney, the son of Darwin O. and Arline A. (LeDroit) Hoffman.
He grew up in Pleasanton and later moved with his family to Broken Bow. He was a 1971 graduate of Broken Bow High School. He then attended college at the University of Wyoming.
He returned home and went to work for Burlington Northern Railroad. He had a previous marriage to which two children were born, Kelli and Kyle. He was united in marriage to Diane McClellan on March 12, 1982, in Litchfield. A son Shawn was born to this union.
Tim continued to work for the Burlington Northern Railroad until his retirement in 2009. Over the years he had also helped and worked for Ronnie Reese.
He was a member of the Clay Center Christian Church, where he found Jesus and loved to attend services there.
Tournament Fishing was Tim’s passion, along with his fishing partners, Scott Placzek, Randy Wilson and Kory Ekhoff. Tim was instrumental in forming the Sherman Reservoir Walleye Association and the Nebraska Walleye Trail. He and his partners had also competed in National Tournaments. He also enjoyed hunting and mowing yards. He and his son-in-law, Scott, took care of many lawns at the lake. He and Diane loved lake life.
The last few years of his life, his grandchildren were his whole world. Teaching them about hunting and of course, fishing!
He is survived by his loving wife, Diane of Loup City; children and spouses, Kelli and Scott Mroczek of Loup City, Kyle Hoffman of Jacksonville, IL and Shawn and Nicole Hoffman of Table Rock; He also leaves to cherish his memory, seven grandchildren, Lexi, DeLanie, Timothy, Elijah, Bobby, Michael and Lydia; and a sister and brother-in-law, Brenda and Kevin Malsbury of Aurora.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Darwin and Arline; brothers, Jimmie, Dick, Jerry, Bobby and Mark Hoffman; and his in-laws, Richard and Judy McClellan.
