Patrick E. BarochPatrick E. “Pat” Baroch, 71, of St. Paul, died Sunday, June 19, 2016, at the Grand Island Veterans Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in St. Paul. The Revs. Rayappa Konka and Ray Kosmicki will officiate. Inurnment and graveside military honors will be in the Elmwood Cemetery in St. Paul by Carl Mogensen American Legion Post 119 of St. Paul. There will be no visitation. Mr. Baroch requested that his body be cremated. Peters Funeral Home of St. Paul is in charge of the arrangements. Pat was born on Dec. 6, 1944, in Lincoln, the son of Earl B. and Nadine E. (Stanton) Baroch. He grew up in Lincoln where he attended St. Teresa's Catholic School and graduated from Pius X High School in 1963. He then attended Southeast Community College in Milford, where he received his associates degree in drafting. He enlisted in the United States Navy, serving in Vietnam from April 1966 to February 1970. Upon his discharge he returned to SECC in Milford and received a degree in auto body repair. He then began his career in auto body at various dealerships and businesses in Lincoln. In 1977, he began working for Snap-On Tools. In 1981, he moved to St. Paul where he started up St. Paul Body Shop, which he owned and operated until retiring in 2007. Since then he rolled silverware for free meals at the Sweet Shoppe in St. Paul and served as the official observer and commentator on a daily basis. Pat was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Carl Mogensen American Legion Post 119 and VFW, St. Paul Area Community Theater, which he served as president for many years and was a longtime St. Paul EMT. Pat loved riding motorcycles, woodworking, camping, fishing, coffee and meals. He is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Charlene Baroch of Andover, MN; and a niece and her husband, Karen and Darren Kilker and son, Jonah also of Andover, MN. He is also survived by his “sort of” family: his best friend and “everything”, Alice Osterman of St. Paul; his “sort of” daughter and son-in-law, Kaleena and Brian Smith and sons, Noah and Isaiah, of St. Paul; his “sort of” son and daughter-in-law, Josh and Christy Nix of Excelsior, MN; and his “granny”, Dora Johnson of St. Paul He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Jamie Jo Baroch; and niece, Terri Baroch. Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
