Pat was born on Jan. 18, 1946, in Omaha, the daughter of John E. and Lucy M. (Hoffmann) Krakowski. Pat’s father died when she was 6 years old and she and her mother, moved to Pierce to live with her grandmother. Lucy later married Frank Nave, who thought of Pat as his own daughter.

Pat graduated from Pierce High School in 1964 and then attended Grand Island Business School. She then moved to Norfolk where she worked for Norwest Bank.

She was united in marriage to David Zumbrum on June 8, 1968, at Pierce. The couple first lived in Norfolk until 1972, when they moved to Omaha. Pat worked for Stock Yards National Bank and then Norwest Bank. In 1975, the couple moved to Grand Island.
Pat and David’s daughter, Margaret was born in 1981. The family moved to St. Libory in 1985. Since 1976, Pat has worked as a line supervisor at the Fonner Park horse races.

She was a member of St. Libory’s Catholic Church and its CCW and the Central Nebraska Antique Tractor and Equipment Club.

Pat loved to bowl and had played on bowling leagues for many years. She also enjoyed reading, shopping, watching “Gunsmoke” on television, Starbuck’s, spending time with her grandchildren and her friends and co-workers at Fonner Park.

Every time I saw Pat at Fonner we shared stories about our daughters who were classmates at Central Catholic. She always had a smile and a pleasant greeting.
