Oren C. “Fat” Obermiller, 71, of Loup City, died Friday, June 27, 2008, at the Howard County Community Hospital in St. Paul.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Peters Funeral Home in Loup City. Pastor Darrell Holzinger will officiate. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Loup City with graveside military honors by American Legion Post 48 of Loup City.
Visitation will be Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Obermiller was born on Sept. 25, 1936, at Loup City, the son of Fred and Elsie (Dethlefs) Obermiller.
He is survived by three brothers and sisters-in-law, his twin brother, Loren “Slim” and Donna Obermiller of Loup City, Dean and Dorothy Obermiller of Ravenna and Wayne and Joan Obermiller of Fremont.
He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
“Fat” grew up on the family farm southeast of Loup City and attended District No. 53 rural school and graduated from Ravenna High School in 1954.
He served in the United States Army from 1958 to 1960. After his discharge from the Army he returned to Sherman County where he farmed with his father. He continued to farm and also worked at Ken’s Equipment in Loup City for a number of years.
After retiring from the farm he lived at Westside Park and Rose Lane Home.
He enjoyed antique tractors.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 48 of Loup City.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew, Jerry Obermiller.
