O’Detta June was born on June 10, 1938, to Everett and Marjorie Case in Ainsworth, Nebraska. Because of her father passing away when she was two months of age, the family moved around before settling in the Arcadia, Nebraska, area, where she met her future husband, Harold Eugene Parker. They were united in marriage on January 16, 1955, and were blessed with four daughters: Dixie, Jackie, Becky, and Lori.

O’Detta June accepted the Lord as her Savior at an early age.

Her education was limited, but you would never know due to her multiple talents. Most notably was her musical talent in writing songs, playing her favorite instruments, and singing solo or in her band. Music was her passion, passed down from her mother. She was self-taught and played the piano and guitar by ear. She was a member of the Platte Valley Countrymen country western band as a guitar player and lead singer. She was also a lead singer and piano player in the Casual Country band. She was very talented and wrote many of her own songs that she had recorded.

She worked hard to support her four daughters as a single mother. Besides holding a full-time job, playing in bands also helped support her family.

She was united in marriage to Marvin Cords on February 14, 1986, in Chapman, Nebraska, and relocated to Dannebrog, Nebraska, where they resided until she moved to Rose Lane Nursing Home in Loup City, Nebraska, and later to Brookefield Park in St. Paul, Nebraska, where she transitioned to heaven on her mother’s birthday.

She lived a full life, filling the lives of those around her with memories they will never forget.

She is survived by her husband, Marvin Cords of Dannebrog, NE; one sister, Rosetta Parker-Roy of Grand Island, NE; one brother, Larry (Butch) and Vicki Brooks of St. Libory, NE; four daughters, Dixie (Mark) Nelson of Anthon, IA, Jackie Parker of Jackson, NE, Rebecca (Becky) Williams of Dannebrog, NE, and Lori (Chris) Leonard of Dannebrog, NE; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lorent Everett Case and Marjorie Alta (King) Case; stepfather, John Ferry; and three brothers, Dean Combs, LaVern Case, and Darwin Combs.
