Jeanie was born August 27, 1938, on a family farm in Otoe County, the daughter of Henry and Ruby (Schmidt) Homfeld. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith. She attended country school near her home before moving with her family to Grand Island in 1951. Jeanie graduated from Grand Island Senior High with the Class of 1956 and later worked at a local café and the Grand Theatre.

She was united in marriage to Loy Glause on March 2, 1957, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Grand Island.

She was also a talented seamstress who made dresses for the girls and even neckties for the boys.

She was a devoted and extremely active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Worms, where she participated in Bible study groups, Ladies Aid, LWML, LLL, and the quilting group. Jeanie was always ready to lend a hand and serve in any way she could for her church family.
