Harry Kermit Ericksen, 93, of Boelus, died Thursday, Feb. 3, 2022, at Rose Lane Home in Loup City.
Kermit chose to be cremated. Graveside services will be held this Spring at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Grand Island. The Rev. Richard L. Piontkowski will officiate.
Memorials are suggested to the Dannebrog/Boelus EMT’s.
Peters Funeral Home of St. Paul is assisting the family.
Kermit was born on Oct. 8, 1928, at Boelus, the son of Harry and Jenssine (Jensen) Ericksen. He grew up in Boelus and graduated from Boelus High School in 1947.
He served in the U.S. Army from Nov. 16, 1950 to Oct. 18, 1952.
He was united in marriage to Margene Krakowski on Jan. 3, 1953, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Rockville.
Kermit was co-owner of Jensen’s Store in Boelus with Gene Whitefoot from 1970 until his retirement in 1992. He continued to reside in Boelus the rest of his life.
He is survived by his wife, Margene of Boelus; son and daughter-in-law, Kent and Lynda Ericksen of Norfolk; grandson, William Ericksen of Norfolk; sister-in-law and husband, Velda and Jerome Smolla of Grand Island; and four nephews, Gordon and Greg Ericksen, both of Indiana, Scott Smolla of Hastings and Brad Smolla of Grand Island.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Jenssine Helen Ericksen; and brother, Bill Ericksen.
