John F. McIntyre

John F. McIntyre, 53, of Omaha, formerly of St. Paul, died Thursday, Nov. 25, 2021, surrounded by his loving family, at CHI Health Immanuel in Omaha.


Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Mary Our Queen Catholic Church, 3405 S. 118th Street, Omaha, NE. To view a live broadcast of the Mass, please go to www.heafeyheafey.com and click the “View Live Cast” button on the home page.


Graveside services will be 4 p.m. Thursday at the Elmwood Cemetery in St. Paul. The Rev. Vince Parsons will officiate at the graveside service.


Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Mary Our Queen Catholic Church, with a 7 p.m. Vigil Service.


Memorials are suggested to Masses, St. Paul American Legion Baseball Program, St. Paul Area Library Foundation or to the donor’s choice.


Heafey Hoffman Dworak Cutler Mortuaries in Omaha and Peters Funeral Home in St. Paul are assisting the family.


John was born on Oct. 3, 1968, at St. Paul, the son of Dan R. and Barbara R. (Wittry) McIntyre. He grew up in St. Paul where he attended Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic School and graduated from St. Paul High School as the Salutatorian with the class of 1987. His Senior year he was the recipient of the Babe Ruth Award for his involvement in sports and academics.


John attended Creighton University, receiving his Bachelor’s Degree in Finance in 1991. He then went on to attain his Master’s Degree in Business Management from the University of Nebraska – Kearney in 2002.


John was united in marriage to Laura C. Vranes on Oct. 6, 2007, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Omaha. John’s entire career was working for TD Ameritrade/Charles Schwab.


During John’s years at Creighton University, he enjoyed all his many activities and still held a special place in his heart for his beloved Bluejays. He loved nature and enjoyed everything in life. He and Laura were great lovers and collectors of ‘street art’ for which they had been recognized through the local media.


He is survived by his wife, Laura Vranes of Omaha; parents, Dan and Barbara McIntyre of St. Paul, brother, Tom McIntyre of Kearney; mother-in-law, Christyne Vranes of Omaha; brother-in-law, Robert Vranes of Omaha; aunts and uncles, Colleen Killinger of St. Paul, Tim & Barb McIntyre of Greeley, Sandra McIntyre of St. Paul, Richard Salmen of Creighton, Gerald and Marilyn Otte of Wayne and Robert and Vicki Wittry of Blair; numerous cousins and a host of friends.


He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Oren and Mary McIntyre and Chris and Marie Wittry; and aunts and uncles, Gerald Killinger, Mike McIntyre, Ruth McIntyre and Catherine Salmen.
