Obituary

Jason Philip Hawthorne was born on September 5, 1974, in Omaha, Nebraska.

At age 6, Jason was welcomed into the loving home of Tom and Hanna Hawthorne, who proudly raised him as their son. He attended Central City Public Schools and graduated from Central City High School.

A private family service will be held at Peters Funeral Home. Rev. Vince Parsons will officiate.

Memorials are suggested to the Hunter Philip Hawthorne Memorial Scholarship.

Peters Funeral Home of St. Paul is assisting the family.

Jason worked at Central City Scale and later for BonnaVilla Homes in Aurora, Nebraska, for a short time.

On July 25, 1998, he married Danielle McClure in Clarks, Nebraska.

On February 27, 1999, their only son, Hunter Philip Hawthorne, was born. Hunter was Jason's pride and joy. Jason was a devoted father who cherished his time with his son.

Jason enjoyed cooking and was exceptionally talented in the kitchen. During our weekly Sunday phone calls, he would ask what I made for lunch and would often say, “Mom, I can’t wait to have some of your lumpy mashed potatoes & gravy again.”

One of the greatest joys in Jason's life was the relationship he shared with his dad. During their conversations, they talked about everything from current events and world happenings to advances in technology, social changes, sports, and everyday life. These conversations helped Jason stay connected to a world that was changing around him and reflected his genuine curiosity and desire to learn. Those moments together became treasured memories for both father and son.

Jason also found joy in creating pottery, producing many beautiful pieces during his time away. He worked hard to better himself and proudly earned his certificate as a physical trainer. He looked forward to using his experiences to help others who had struggled in life and to encourage them as they adjusted to life on the outside.

He looked forward to returning home, rebuilding his life, cooking for those he loved, and spending precious time with his family.

Jason will be remembered for his witty personality, blue eyes, and smile.

He is survived by his parents, Tom & Hanna Hawthorne; his sisters, Jessica Borchers and Annie Hawthorne; his two nieces and one nephew; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family from both the Hawthorne and Bolling families.

He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Hunter Philip Hawthorne; and his grandparents, Philip & Bernardine Bolling Hedges, Dale Hedges, and Ron & Jeanette Hawthorne.
