Elizabeth Mae was born on April 1, 1928, to Evert and Mabel (Wallander) Isaacson at their home north of Loomis, Nebraska. She was the middle child of three—older brother Delford and younger brother Dale. She attended elementary school at Westmark School and graduated from Bertrand High School with the Class of 1945. She received her normal teacher training in high school and began teaching in 1945 at Snowball School. She continued teaching for 10 years in rural Phelps County schools.
Elizabeth married Millard Johnson on May 29, 1955, at the Westmark Church. They made their home in northern Phelps County. To this union, two children were born: Nancy Beth in 1957 and Arlan Dean in 1963. She was a devoted housewife and worked several years for the R-3 and R-4 school districts.
In 2005, the Johnsons sold their acreage and moved to Holdrege.
Millard passed away on July 2, 2011. In 2015, Elizabeth moved to Brookefield Park Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation in St. Paul, where she remained until her passing.
Elizabeth was a member of the Holcomb Evangelical Free Church of rural Holdrege. Her love for Jesus was utmost in her life.
She enjoyed her grandkids’ activities, coffee with friends, word puzzles, gardening, and cooking.
She leaves to mourn her passing: her children and their spouses, Nancy and Stan Allen of Omaha, and Arlan and Kori Johnson of St. Paul; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and cousins, nieces, and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Millard, she was preceded in death by her parents; one granddaughter; and her brothers and their spouses, Delford and Betty Isaacson, and Dale and Ella Mae Isaacson.
