Edward Nekoliczak
ST. PAUL – Edward H. Nekoliczak, 89, of St. Paul died Monday, Dec. 3, 2007, at Bryan/LGH East in Lincoln.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in St. Paul. The Revs. Ted Nekoliczak and Ray Kosmicki will officiate. Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the church, with a 7 p.m. vigil service.
Peters Funeral Home of St. Paul is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Nekoliczak was born on Aug. 3, 1918, on the family farm near Greeley, the son of Henry J. and Kathryn S. (Wilcynski) Nekoliczak.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence; one son, Wayne Nekoliczak; and one daughter, Nancy Schultz.
He is survived by two sons, Donald Nekoliczak of Chicago, IL and John Nekoliczak of Phoenix, AZ; two daughters and one son-in-law, Janet Plesniak of Tucson, AZ and Diane and William Maher of Phoenix, AZ; 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; three brothers and one sister-in-law, Louis Nekoliczak of Chicago, IL, Rev. Ted Nekoliczak of Kearney and Joe and Corrine Nekoliczak of Greeley; and two sisters and one brother-in-law, Margaret Clinch and Lorraine and Lyle Kelly, all of Greeley.
Ed received his education at the Catholic parochial school at O’Connor. He then farmed with his family near Greeley.
He served in the United States Army, receiving a medical discharge in 1941. He worked for Douglas Aviation and Boeing Aviation in Seattle and Omaha, later moving to Chicago.
He was united in marriage to Florence J. Chrobel on May 1, 1948, at Cicero. IL. The couple lived in Cicero where he worked as a machinist for Goss Printing Company. In 1976, they moved to Rockford, IL. Upon their retirement they moved to St. Paul in 1981 and spent many winters in Arizona.
Florence died on Feb. 11, 1999, and he continued to reside in St. Paul, the rest of his life.
He enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing, dancing, playing cards and going to coffee at the Skyline Café.
He was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church of St. Paul, Eagles Aerie No. 378 of Grand Island and the Moose Lodge of Cicero.
In addition to his wife, son and daughter, he was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Elmer Nekoliczak; and four sisters, Alvina Nekoliczak, Ethel Wielgus, Mary McFadden and Henrietta Jurczyk.
Memorials are suggested to masses or to the family’s choice.
