Edward F. “Mr. B” Brozek, 71, of Sun City, AZ, died Monday, April 4, 2011, after a fight with Alzheimer’s and lung disease.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 18, 2011, at St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Grand Island. The Rev. Harry Kurtenbach and Deacon Donald Placke will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery with graveside military honors by Offutt Air Force Base Honor Guard.
Peters Funeral Home of St. Paul is assisting the family.
Mr. Brozek was born on July 21, 1939, at Bayonne, N.J., the son of John and Julia (Jarzab) Brozek.
He was united in marriage to Jane Curtis-Volkl on Feb. 16, 1963, at St. Libory’s Catholic Church in St. Libory.
He is survived by his wife, Jane of Sun City, AZ; three children, Kimberly Brozek-Vock, Todd Brozek of San Diego and Candace Brozek of Sun City, AZ.
He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Pamela Tagel of Grand Island and a brother-in-law, Mark Volkl of Grand Island.
“Mr. B. retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1980 after 22 years of service. He went on to work for Civil Service for another 22 years, retiring in 2004. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in Nebraska and also playing golf. He will be dearly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Richard Brozek; a sister, Theresa Brozek; his in-laws, Bernie and Ann Volkl; a brother-in-law, John “Jack” Tagel; and a niece, Theresa Tagel.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family’s choice.
