Edna M. Verley, 84, of St. Paul, died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2022, at Brookefield Park in St. Paul.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in St. Paul. The Rev. Vince Parsons will celebrate the Mass. Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery in St. Paul.

Visitation will be Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the church, with a 7 p.m. parish rosary.

Edna was born on Oct. 15, 1937, in Dannebrog, NE, to Dr. Howard F. and Anna Marguerite “Marge” (Miller) Eby.

Her early childhood was lived in various locations throughout CO, SD and NE. The family finally settled in St. Paul where she was a 1955 graduate of St. Paul High School. She pursued a Nursing degree at St. Francis School of Nursing in Grand Island of which she was a 1958 graduate.

She was united in marriage to Stanley K. Verley on Oct 26, 1958, at the First Presbyterian Church in St. Paul. They were married 36 years. The couple lived and raised their family in St. Paul. She was a convert to the Catholic Faith in 1971, had a 40-year nursing career at the Howard County Medical Center, was an avid reader and always up to the challenge of crossword puzzles and Jeopardy. She enjoyed watching EWTN and listening to Catholic Spirit Radio, Husker volleyball and football, sewing, crocheting and knitting many items for her growing family. Her collection of angels and cardinals gave her great joy as well as watching the birds outside her window.

Her involvement over the years included bowling, church circle, Altar Society, Marriage Encounter, and Pro-Life activities.

She is survived by four children, Karen & Randy Dvorak and Marc Verley of St. Paul, Sheila & Don Stewart and Marcia & Anthony Newnum of Lincoln; eight grandchildren, Nicole Collier, Alicia & Mitch Happ, Heather & Jared Paulsen, Shelby Peitzmeier, Kendra & Andrew Dudasko, Clayton Stewart, Carson & Jessica Stewart and Chase Stewart; ten great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband-Stanley; daughter-Jana Peitzmeier; sisters-Annette Williams and Linda Chambers; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
