Deloris “Sissy” A. Gregg, 86, of Grand Island, formerly of North Loup, died Saturday, July 15, 2023, at the Grand Island Regional Medical Center, surrounded by her family.

Memorial visitation will be held Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Peters Funeral Home in St. Paul.

Private family graveside services will be in the Hillside Cemetery in North Loup, with Pastor Tom Burkholder officiating.

Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.

Deloris was born on Oct. 19, 1936, on a farm near Westerville, the daughter of Jessie “Jack” and Ruth (Fox) Dimmitt. The family later moved to a farm near Arcadia where she attended Valley County country schools.

She was united in marriage to Thomas D. Gregg on January 15, 1955, at Sedalia, MO. The couple lived near North Loup, where they raised their five children. Deloris worked as a nurse’s aide and in housekeeping at the Valley County Nursing Home in Ord.

After her retirement she lived in North Loup, Scotia and Albuquerque, NM. In Feb. 2023 she moved to Grand Island, where she lived the rest of her life.

She was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Ord and attended the Rock of Salvation Church in Albuquerque.

Deloris enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling, playing cards and casino get aways. She also loved eating ice cream.

She is survived by her children and spouses, Laurita and Galen Ackles of St. Paul, Troy and Ann Gregg of Arcadia, Raymond and Dorothy Gregg of Scotia and Karen and Carlos Fonseca of Albuquerque, NM; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson on the way; and one brother, Garrell “Tuffy” Dimmitt and his significant other, Anna of Grand Island.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Leonard Gregg; granddaughter, Jessica Gutierrez; sister, Donna Rawlings; and brothers, Otis “Jay”, Stanley “Teeny”, Gordy, Dennie, Darrell “Buddy” and Loren “Jackie” Dimmitt.
