David was born Jan. 11, 1960, in Shenandoah, Iowa, to Donald and Karen (Goodman) Stephens. He grew up in Shenandoah, where he developed a lifelong love of the outdoors. He later attended college and studied horticulture, a field that reflected his appreciation for landscaping and nature.
Following college, David lived in Denver, Colorado, where he worked as a milkman. He later moved to Grand Island, Nebraska, where he met the love of his life, Tricia. The couple were united in marriage in 1993 and built a life centered on family, laughter, and shared adventures.
Over the years, David worked for Earl May, New Holland, Dana Corporation, Lewis Greenscape, and retired from FedEx, where he was known for his strong work ethic and dedication. He was also an honorary member of the Knights of Columbus and the Saddle Club.
David loved traveling, especially to tropical destinations where he could enjoy warm sunshine and the beauty of the ocean. He also enjoyed camping and fishing, and some of his happiest moments were spent outdoors with family and friends.
Above all, David cherished his family. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who treasured time spent with those he loved.
Survivors include his wife, Tricia Stephens of St. Paul; his children and their spouses, Brent Stephens, Angus and Michaela Stephens, and Natalie and John Castro; his grandchildren, Aden, Noah, Briella, Mason, Liam, and Daisy; his brother, Dennis Stephens and Shirley Valente; and his sister, Karlene Stephens.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Karen Stephens, and his mother-in-law, Joyce Yosten.
