Daniel D. Jacobsen

Daniel D. Jacobsen, 68, of St. Paul, died Saturday, Dec. 12, 2009, at the Great Plains Regional Medical Center in North Platte. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in St. Paul. The Rev. Ray Kosmicki will officiate. Burial will at 11 a.m. Friday in Ft. McPherson National Cemetery at Maxwell with graveside military honors by the U.S. Navy Funeral Honors Team and the North Platte Veterans Honor Guard. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the church, with a 6 p.m. vigil service. Peters Funeral Home of St. Paul is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Jacobsen was born on Aug. 23, 1941, at Scotia, the son of Dale and Emily (Janc) Jacobsen. He is survived by his wife, Sandy of St. Paul; one daughter and son-in-law, Kristie and Tom Brown of Parker, CO; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Brian Jacobsen of Omaha and Dale and Kelly Jacobsen of Denver; and two sisters and one brother-in-law, Faye and Wally Loeb of Laurel and Elaine Harvey of St. Paul. He is also survived by two granddaughters, Makayla Jacobsen and Marissa Jacobsen, both of Omaha. As a young boy Dan moved with his family to St. Paul. He attended St. Paul Public Schools until 1956, when his family moved to Grand Island. He graduated from Grand Island Central Catholic in 1959. He then served in the U.S. Navy from June 1959 to Aug. 1962. He was united in marriage to Sandra K. Irwin on Jan. 19, 1963, at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Grand Island. The couple lived for many years in Littleton, Colorado, where he worked for AT&T and Nortel. Dan retired in 2001 and he and Sandy moved to St. Paul in 2006. He was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church and American Legion Post 10 of Morrill, NE. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Louis Dean Jacobsen; and two brothers-in-law, Daryl Harvey and Don Ward. Memorials are suggested to the family’s choice.
