Connie Lynn Williams Baasch

Constance L. “Connie” Williams Baasch, 68, of Grand Island, died Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2023, in Omaha.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 25, 2023, at St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Grand Island. The Rev. Donald Buhrman will celebrate the Mass. Inurnment will be in the Cedarview Cemetery in Doniphan. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, March 24, 2023, at the church.

Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation. Peters Funeral Home of St. Paul is assisting the family.

Connie was born on July 1, 1954, at St. Paul, the daughter of Donald J. and Alice A. (Jarzynka) Lonowski. She grew up and lived in Grand Island where she graduated from Grand Island Senior High in 1972.

She was united in marriage to Robert W. “Bob" Williams on June 30, 1972, in Grand Island. The couple first lived in Grand Island later moving to St. Paul, where they started B & C Sanitation. Bob was tragically killed in a car accident on June 9, 1979. Her and her two sons, James and Tim then returned to Grand Island to live where her son Scott was born. Over the years Connie worked at Vavra’s Sausage Kitchen for many years, the American Red Cross, Third City Clinic, Quality Sew & Vac and was the bookkeeper for her parents business, D & A Trenching..

She married Eugene  D. “Gene” Baasch on June 1, 1994, in Grand Island. The couple lived their entire married life in Grand Island. Gene passed away suddenly March 27, 2022.

Connie was a member of St. Leo’s Catholic Church, the Platt-Duetsche and the Grand Island Saddle Club.

She is survived by her three sons, James and Jess Williams of Grand Island, Tim Williams and Stacy Christensen of Hastings and Scott Williams of Grand Island; 15 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; siblings and spouses, Karen and Terry Kelly of Chapman, Charles Lonowski of Grand Island, Richard and Kathy Lonowski of Gilbert, AZ, Joe and Andrea Lonowski of Lincoln and Tammy and Craig Roder of Hudson, Wis.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Mike Williams and Deb McKernan of Cedar Rapids, IA, Esther Gardner of Grand Island, Patricia Williams of Grand Island, Michelle Williams – Frerichs of Grand Island, Donald and Margaret Williams of Grand Island, Dale and Michelle Williams of Grand Island, Lisa McCarthy of Sioux City, IA, Peggy Baasch of Littleton, CO and Kathy Baasch of Cairo; best friend of over 50 years, Kim Lockhart of Grand Island; and many nieces and nephews and aunts, uncles, cousins and numerous friends.

In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; in laws, Robert and Esther Williams and August and Katherine Maxine Baasch; and brothers-in-law, Gary Baasch and Dennis Baasch.
