Christopher J. “Chris” Bragg, Sr. of St. Paul died unexpectedly Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at the Howard County Medical Center in St. Paul.

Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at Peters Funeral Home in St. Paul. The Rev. Vince Parsons will officiate.

Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.

Chris was born Dec. 25, 1953, in Rochester, New York, the son of Donald J. and Mary Elizabeth (Ryan) Bragg. He grew up and received his education in Rochester, where he graduated from St. Aquinas High School in 1972.

He served in the United States Air Force from Dec. 5, 1972, to Oct. 11, 1973, as an operating room specialist. Upon his discharge, he worked at various types of employment.

He had a great passion for being an electrician and a jack of all trades. He studied hard and became the first certified satellite technician in the State of Nebraska.

He was united in marriage to Valerie J. Sternberg on Aug. 22, 1992, at St. Paul, where the couple lived their entire married lives and raised their sons. Chris worked at Jorgensen Electric in St. Paul for a number of years and continued to work as an electrician in many areas of the Central United States. He helped in the construction of many ethanol plants and in the construction of the new tower of Saint Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.

Chris loved sci-fi movies and television shows—especially Star Trek. He enjoyed talking politics, using his ham radio, being a front-porch storm spotter, and watching the news. He loved his pets, a cold beer, and a good scotch.

He is survived by his wife, Valerie “Val” Bragg of St. Paul; sons, Sean and Becca Bragg of Grand Island, Tyler Bragg of Orange County, CA, William Bragg and Kassidy Kucera of Grand Island, and Chris Bragg, Jr. and Pansy Graff of Kearney; four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; brothers, Don and Mary Bragg of San Antonio, TX, and Bill and Nancy Bragg of Watkins Glen, NY; sister, Mary Ellen and David Singer of Niskayuna, NY; sisters-in-law, Ronda Sternberg of St. Paul and Kim White of Sterling, CO; and a former brother-in-law, Mohamed Ramadan of Washington, DC.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Kathy David; in-laws, Darrell and Vivian Sternberg; brother-in-law, Bill Sternberg; and sister-in-law, Judy Sternberg.
