After earning his Masters in Theology degree from the University of Dallas, Art took a position as the Parish Administrator of the St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church in Rogers, Arkansas. Art worked tirelessly managing the various activities required to finance and construct a new church building. The building was dedicated and opened on April 4, 2003, seating 1600 congregants. Art and his then wife, Sue, moved to Tigard, OR at this time, and Art became a hospital chaplain wanting to put his significant personal experience with grief toward a positive activity by advising others during their time of need. A few years later Art decided he wanted to be of service to his local Diocese and signed up for the Diaconate program, at the age of 65. Perhaps a highlight of his life was having his extended family on hand to witness his initiation into the Diaconate of the Portland Diocese. He served as a Deacon for the St. Anthony Catholic Church in Tigard, OR for several years.
