Arlie C. Jasnoch

October 14, 1927 — January 21, 2024

Grand Island

Our Mom is now reunited with her late husband, Richard R. Jasnoch (May 2012), her oldest son, Donald L. Jasnoch (July 2008) and her grandson, Brian Jasnoch (December 2014). And she probably has already attended her first garage sale in heaven.

Arlie C. Jasnoch, born Arlie Clarece Heil at Loup City, in October of 1927, was the daughter of the late George Heil and Alma (Thompson) Heil and was the younger sister of the late Leona (Heil) Bydalek and older sister to the late Loren Heil and the late Norma (Heil) Classen. Arlie departed this earthly life on Sunday, Jan. 21, 2024, at the age of 96 years old.

She is survived by six of her seven children: Patricia Tackett of Grand Island (husband, Wayne and daughters, Lisa and Jenny and sons, Mike and Mark), daughter Katherine Muehlich of Alta Loma, CA (husband, Garry and daughter, Deana and sons, Richard and Tobias), Chuck Jasnoch of Grand Island, Wayne Jasnoch of Sutton (daughter, Shannon and sons, Corey and Kelly), Elizabeth Benjamin of Custer, South Dakota (husband, Lloyd), and Tim Jasnoch (wife, Linda and daughters, Jessica, Ashley and Kelsey). She is also survived by her late son, Donald’s daughter, Nicole Peterson of McCook (husband, Jeff). And in good Catholic tradition, Arlie is also survived by 20 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Arlie grew up in Loup City and was united in marriage to Richard in 1947, at St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church. The family farmed in Sherman and Valley counties. It was a hard life dryland farming in those years while raising seven kids. So, Arlie began working for the Sherman County Extension office to help the family finances. In 1980, with all the kids graduated from high school, Arlie and Richard retired to Grand Island. She took up quilting, crafting and gardening, especially roses and the tiger lilies that she transplanted from the Sherman County farm. And she never met a garage sale that she didn’t want to attend.

As a woman of faith, Arlie wished to celebrate the immortality promised to all by Christ. She would love to be remembered with funny, strange or silly stories that celebrate what was good and blessed in her life. Her family will always remember the quilting frame set up in the basement with her latest quilt tacked to it and the flowers (especially the roses) that surrounded her home. Arlie’s favorite sport is not Nebraska Football, it’s BINGO!! This is not a game for the young. Her favorite number is G46. Bingo is a very competitive game and demanding at times!! Now that she’s in heaven G46 will always be called. If it was time to go out for a family dinner to celebrate holidays and birthdays, it was always Valentinos. Just ask the grandkids. We all remember getting the cows milked on a Saturday night so Mom and Dad could go dancing with their good friends the Sok’s and the Palu’s. In recent years, mom appreciated the time she spent with Jim and Vi Mamot of St. Libory and Darlene Knoepfel of Grand Island.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, 2024 at St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church in Loup City. The Rev. Richard L. Piontkowski will celebrate the Mass. She will be buried beside her husband in the Evergreen Cemetery in Loup City.

Visitation will be Saturday 9 a.m. until service time at the church. The Rosary will be recited at 10 a.m.

Peters Funeral Home of St. Paul is assisting the family. Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.
