Alda was born on April 27, 1927, on the family farm in the Dannevirke and Cotesfield area, the daughter of Robert M. and Anna M. (Mortensen) Nielsen.

She began her education in Howard County rural schools, later attending St. Paul Public School and working as a nanny for the Hank Rasmussen family. She was a 1945 graduate of St. Paul High School.

In 1964, she began working as a waitress at Dreisbach’s Steakhouse for 33 years before retiring in 1996. Charlie died on Feb. 18, 2001, and Alda continued to live on the farm with her son, Joe.

She was a member of St. Libory’s Catholic Church and its Council of Catholic Women, St. Libory Card Club, was a former member of Eagles Aerie 378 of Grand Island, and served on the St. Libory Election Board for many years.

Alda enjoyed playing cards, especially rummy and sheep’s head, BINGO, betting on the horses at Fonner Park, and loved to play the one-arm bandits!

She is survived by five sons: Bob and Jan Boehle of St. Paul, Tim and Jane Boehle of Grand Island, Gary and Pam Boehle of Wayne, Doug and Susy Boehle of Phillips, and Joe Boehle of St. Libory; 10 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law, Mary Nielsen and Jackie Nielsen, both of St. Libory.
