Theresa I. Nabity, 84, of St. Libory, died Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014, at her home. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Libory's Catholic Church in St. Libory. The Rev. Sidney B. Bruggeman will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Libory's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the church, with a vigil service at 6 p.m. Peters Funeral Home of St. Paul is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Nabity was born on Dec. 22, 1929, at Elba, the daughter of John and Selma (Stefanowicz) Radke. She was united in marriage to Lawrence S. Nabity on Sept. 17, 1949, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Elba. He preceded her in death on April 30, 2013. She is survived by five sons and two daughters-in-law, Larry Nabity of Alcester, SD; Tom & Pam Nabity of Hawarden, IA, Don & Anita Nabity of Grand Island, Frank Nabity of Haysville, KS and Arnold Nabity of Petersburg, VA; six daughters and five sons-in-law, Jeanette & Tom Tichenor of Derby, KS, Sylvia & Larry Frustaglio of Scottsbluff, Nancy Maldonado of Apple Valley, CA, Marylyn & Lonnie Ehlers of Aurora, Carol & Roy Williams of Coweta, OK and Ann & Monty Herrick of Alda; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Zeta Layher of Elba and Virginia & Gary Powers of Frederick, CO. She also leaves to cherish her memory 30 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren. Theresa grew up in Elba where she attended school and graduated from Elba High School in 1947. She then worked at a bank in Grand Island. After her marriage to Lawrence, the couple farmed near Elba for 10 years and in 1960 moved to a farm southwest of St. Libory, where they lived and raised their family. She was a member of St. Libory's Catholic Church and its Council of Catholic Women and was CCD coordinator for 10 years. She was also an honorary FFA Chapter member and member of Carl Mogensen American Legion Auxiliary Unit 119 of St. Paul. Theresa loved and enjoyed her family, card games, crossword puzzles, BINGO, watching game shows and gardening. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; three sons, Roger, Michael and Timothy Nabity; great-granddaughter, Katelin Lahm; and four sisters, Rita Radke, Angie Path, Bernadette Etjen and Mae Ann Jeratowski. In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
