Ron E. Pittman

Ronald E. “Ron” Pittman, 78, of St. Paul, died Friday, April 30, 2021, at CHI Health St. Francis in Grand Island.

Graveside memorial services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, June 12, 2021, at the Elmwood Cemetery Columbarium in St. Paul. The Rev. Steven Neal will officiate.

Memorials are suggested to Boys Scout Troop 121 of St. Paul.

Peters Funeral Home of St. Paul is assisting the family.

Ron was born on Dec. 26, 1942, in Chicago, IL, the son of Meredith and Eleanore (Jarzemski) Pittman. As Ron’s father served in the United States Air Force, the family lived in Illinois and Michigan. As a young boy the family moved to Grand Island where he received his education and graduated from Grand Island Central Catholic in 1960.

He served in The United States Army from Aug. 1962 to Aug. 1965. He then returned to Grand Island and began his career in the restaurant industry.

Ron was united in marriage to Marjorie L. Decker on May 12, 1967, at Grand Island. The couple met while working at Dreisbach’s and later co-managed the popular restaurant.

In 1978, the couple moved to St. Paul and purchased Paul’s Supper Club, which they renamed Ron & Co. They sold the business in 1995, Ron then worked at Atlantic Homes in Central City and later at Keller’s Korner in St. Paul until his retirement.

Marjorie passed away, Dec. 31, 2019.

Ron enjoyed Husker football, woodworking, mowing his yard and smoking his pipe.

He is survived by a son, Mike Pittman and Annie Kowalski of St. Paul; daughter, Ali Mills of St. Paul; three grandchildren, Nick Pittman, Jesse Mills and Carly Mills; and one great-granddaughter, Eleanor Pittman; brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Shari Pittman of Cottonwood Falls, KS; sister and brother-in-law, Cathy and Todd Wells of Mayetta, KS; and sister-in-law, Jamie Pittman of Cottonwood Falls, KS.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; and grandson, Peyton Mills.
