Patricia R. “Patty” Mostek, 41, of Loup City, died Monday, March 14, 2011, at her home, after a courageous battle with cancer. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church in Loup City. The Rev. Barbara L. Spangler will officiate. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Loup City. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Loup City. Peters Funeral Home of Loup City is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Mostek was born on July 11, 1969, at Callaway, the daughter of Mark T. and Pamela J. (Reed) Pearson. She was united in marriage to Chuck W. Mostek on Nov. 17, 1984, at Phillipsburg, Kansas. She is survived by her husband, Chuck; one son and his fiancée, Brent Mostek and Lacie Kimerling of Grand Island; one daughter, Brooke Mostek of Lincoln; her parents, Pam Pearson of Kearney and Mark Pearson of Gibbon; one brother, Doug Pearson of Coral Springs, Florida; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Ann and Ryan Wymore of Thornton, CO and Kari and Adam Rodriguez of Colorado Springs, CO. She is also survived by one granddaughter, Katelynn Mostek; her mother-in-law, Ellen Mostek of Loup City; grandparents, Dick and Charlotte Amsberry of Ansley and Jean Butterfield of Broken Bow; step-grandparents, Lee Reed of El Cajon, CA and Nadene Pearson of Broken Bow. Patty began her education in Broken Bow schools and as a child moved with her family to Loup City, where she attended Loup City Public Schools and graduated as the valedictorian of the Loup City High School, class of 1987. Patty and Chuck lived in the Loup City area where they raised their family. Patty worked at the Sherman County Bank in Loup City for several years. She then began her career with the Soil Conservation Service, which later became the Natural Resource Conservation Service. Patty loved working with the area farmers and staff of the NRCS. She worked with them for 17 years until the office closed in 2007. Family was very important to Patty. She loved her children and enjoyed attending their activities. She adored her granddaughter, Katelynn. She also loved all her nieces and nephews and liked to call them and send them gifts. She loved helping people and visiting with everyone. Patty was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Melvin Mostek; grandparents, Bill Pearson and H.D. Reed; her great-grandparents; an uncle, Steve Amsberry; and two aunts, Julie Anderson and Debra Einspahr. Memorials are suggested to the family’s choice.
