Norma J. Janulewicz, 83, of Loup City, died Saturday, April 14, 2018, at Rose Lane Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 27, at St. Josaphat's Catholic Church in Loup City. The Revs. Richard L. Piontkowski and Thomas A. Ryan will concelebrate the Mass. Inurnment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Loup City. Visitation will be Thursday, April 26, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the church with a 7 p.m. vigil service. Peters Funeral Home of Loup City is assisting the family. Norma was born on April 26, 1934, at Loup City, the daughter of John F. and Veronica C. (Stanczyk) Janulewicz. She grew up in Loup City where she received her education at Loup City Schools and graduated from Loup City High School in 1951. She then began her 38 year career with the telephone company, starting with Northwestern Bell in Omaha and the remaining years in Grand Island. She was a member of St. Josaphat's Catholic Church, the Council of Catholic Women and was an associate of the Servants of Mary and was a longtime member of the Telephone Pioneers. She also volunteered at the Nebraska State Fair in Grand Island and the Childrens Groundwater program. Norma enjoyed playing softball when she was younger and loved watching the Nebraska Cornhuskers, especially the football and volleyball teams. She enjoyed traveling throughout the world, especially to Poland. She is survived by a sister-in-law, Lucille Janulewicz of Grand Island; dear friend, Sister Rita Kolbet of Grand Island; nieces and nephews, Patrick Peterson of Kearney, Mary Peterson of Thornton, CO, Michael and Cheryl Peterson of Brighton, CO, John P. and Cindy Janulewicz of Loup City, Jerry and Becky Janulewicz of Grand Island, Robert True of Hastings, Connie and Rueben Hock of Harvard, Diane Codner of Hastings, Marilyn and Ken Shafer of Hastings and Pam and Ken Karmazin of Lawrence. She is also survived by many great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Mildred and Dude Peterson, Georgene and Jerry True; one brother, John “Jack” Janulewicz; and a niece, Roseann Pielstick. Memorials are suggested to the Sherman County Foundation or St. Josaphat's Catholic Church.
