Marietta Camden

Marietta Camden, 82, of Loup City died Thursday, May 19, 2011, at the Howard County Medical Center in St. Paul. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church in Loup City. The Rev. Barbara L. Spangler will officiate. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Loup City. Visitation will be Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the church. Peters Funeral Home of Loup City is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Camden was born on Jan. 25, 1929, at Omaha, the daughter of Earl D. and Anna H. (Aasen) Otto. She was united in marriage to Orville W. “Red” Camden on April 26, 1947, in Omaha. He preceded her in death on Feb. 7, 2007. She is survived by eight daughters and seven sons-in-law, Nancy Kwiatkowski of Waterloo, Joanne and Dennis Noble of Glenwood, IA, Marianne and Larry Harmer of Torrington, WY, Delores and Melvin Stuart and Peggy and John Galligher, all of Omaha, Donna and Richard McCauley of Trenton, Vickie and Bill Kasal of Cedar Creek, Cynthia Peyton of Loup City, and Joel Griess of Loup City; seven sons and four daughters-in-law, Gary and Judy Camden of Yoder, WY, Frank and Diana Camden of Kennard, Ed and Suanne Camden of Menlo, IA, Roger Camden of Omaha, Gene and Barbara Camden of Omaha, Marvin Camden of Loup City, and Kerry Camden of Omaha; and one brother, Jack Raymer of Omaha. She is also survived by 55 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Marietta grew up in Omaha and attended Florence Public School. Upon completing her education she worked for Kellogg’s Cereal Company. After her marriage to Red, the couple lived in Council Bluffs and then Omaha. She was a homemaker and a “stay at home” mom to her sixteen children. She did work part-time for a couple of years at Brandeis Department Store. In 1985, the couple moved to Loup City. Marietta worked for her son, Marvin at Sportsman’s Corner for a number of years. Marietta collected bells, thimbles and ink pens and always enjoyed family gatherings. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Elinor Griess; a son-in-law, Don Kwiatkowski; two grandsons, Gary Camden, Jr. and Jeffrey Joel Griess; five brothers, Norval Raymer, Joseph Raymer, George Raymer, Earl Otto, Jr. and Sonny Boy Otto; and six sisters, Lydia Push, Georgianna Push, Alice Linquist, Elinor Round, Annadene Morrison and Patricia Orin; and a step-sister, Jackie Jackson. Memorials are suggested to the family’s choice.
