Lucille R. Newlon, 86, of Lincoln, formerly of St. Paul, died Wednesday, June 20, 2012, at her daughters home in Lincoln. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Peters Funeral Home in St. Paul. Rev. Pat Moore will officiate. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Palmer. Visitation will be one hour before time of service on Monday. Mrs. Newlon was born on Feb. 16, 1926, at Omaha, the daughter of Frank and Blanche (Wells) Buffington. She was united in marriage to James F. Newlon on June 15, 1952, in Omaha. He preceded her in death on Feb. 10, 1995. She is survived by one daughter, Cindy Thomason of Lincoln; three sons and one daughter-in-law, Steve and Maura Jean Newlon of Palmer, Tom Newlon of House Springs, Missouri, and Jeff Newlon of Lincoln. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Lucille grew up in Omaha where she received her education and graduated from Benson High School. She then worked as a dental assistant in Omaha. After her marriage to James they lived in Omaha before moving to the Palmer area where they farmed until 1959 when they moved to St. Paul. She worked at the Cornhusker Army Ammunitions Plant in Grand Island. In the early 1970's she went to work at the Gamble's Store in St. Paul where she worked until her retirement. She continued to live in St. Paul until 2010, when she moved to Lincoln to live with her daughter. Lucille was a member of the St. Paul Women's Bowling League for many years. She enjoyed traveling, bowling, playing BINGO, baking, sewing and gardening. She loved to go for drives and spending time with her grandchildren In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Melvin and George Buffington; and two sisters, Louetta Millen and Margaret Crosby. Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
