Memorials are suggested to the Sherman County Foundation, Polish Heritage Center of to St. Josaphat's Catholic Church. Lois was born on July 27, 1931, at Ashton, to Peter I. and Anna E. (Kwiatkowski) Badura. She was raised in Ashton, graduated as valedictorian from Ashton High School in 1949, and attended Kearney State College where she received her teaching degree and taught in the rural school districts in and around Loup City and Ashton. She loved sports back then and was a high school cheerleader, and continued to be a cheerleader for her kids in all their sports events. Lois married Virgil J. Kaminski on her 23rd birthday, July 27, 1954, in Ashton, and she had three children, Wayne, Jana and Jolene. Lois worked for the Labor Programs through Central Nebraska Community Services in various capacities, from 1967 until 1986, when she joined her brother, Roman in the Ashton State Bank, after her brother, Ralph retired. Lois retired from the bank in 1997, but remained a Director of the Bank. After retirement, Lois enjoyed traveling with her brother Roman and they had many adventures throughout Europe. Although Lois loved to travel, her greatest joys were her children and grandchildren. Her other interests were working in her yard and flowers, reading, music and television. Lois took every opportunity to watch her grandchildren in their school dance, and sports activities, and they spent many summer vacations with their grandmother showing them a great time traveling to museums and sites throughout central Nebraska. She is survived by her son, Wayne Kaminski of California; daughter, Jolene Hanson and Kevin Fishburn of Omaha; son-in-law, Jeff Stenslokken and Jodi Van Winkle of Omaha; four grandchildren, Lea Stenslokken and Dusty Broxterman of Des Moines, Ross Kaminski of California, Connor Hanson and Cheyenne Hanson of Omaha; and sisters-in-law, Sandra Badura of Ashton and Shirley Badura of Omaha. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Jana Stenslokken; daughter-in-law, Terressa Kaminski; brothers, Ralph, Gerald and Roman Badura; sisters-in-law, Patricia Badura and Claudia Badura; ex-husband, Virgil Kaminski; brother-in-law, Larry Kaminski; and in-laws, Lawrence, Kingda and Mathilda Kaminski. Lois was a loving mother and grandmother and was the heart and soul of her family, which she cherished. She was selfless and supported education by setting up a scholarship for high school seniors from Loup City and Ashton interested in teaching or business, because of her passion for learning. Lois was always a teacher, and is still called “Miss Lois” by her former students. Right, Rich? She will be greatly missed.
