Leo F. Buhrman, 81, of St. Paul, died Sunday, Dec. 23, 2012, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Grand Island. Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in St. Paul. The Revs. Ray Kosmicki and Sidney Bruggeman will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Elmwood Cemetery at St. Paul, with graveside military honors by Carl Mogensen American Legion Post 119 of St. Paul. The family will greet friends one hour before time of the service on Saturday, at the church. Peters Funeral Home of St. Paul is in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Buhrman was born on Aug. 9, 1931, at St. Libory, the son of Conrad and Ruth (Wilson) Buhrman. He was united in marriage to Frances A. Olsufka on Aug. 10, 1955, at St. Paul. He is survived by his wife, Frances of St. Paul; four sons and two daughters-in-law, Doug Buhrman of Raymond, Greg Buhrman of Grand Island, Pat and Judy Buhrman of Mesa, AZ and Bryan and Cheryl Buhrman of Chandler, AZ; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Tracy and John Middleton of Hastings, Amy and Cary Tietjen of Chester and Jeanne Kenney of Aurora; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Marian and Earl Roberts of McCook, Betty and Joe Mott of Golden, CO and Ruth Marie Offhaler of La Luz, NM; four brothers and three sisters-in-law, Virgil Buhrman of Alturas, CA, Clyde and Rosemary Buhrman of North Platte, Kenneth and Norma Buhrman of Fayetteville, SC and Larry and Diane Buhrman of St. Libory. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter. Leo grew up in St. Libory where he attended St. Libory's Catholic School and Grand Island Senior High. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1950 to 1953. Upon his military discharge, he went to work for the City of Grand Island. After his marriage to Frances the couple lived in St. Paul where he worked for Howard-Greeley REA and later for the City of St. Paul, where he became the City Utilities Superintendent for a number of years. He then started his own business, Buhrman Electric which he operated for many years. He was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Carl Mogensen American Legion Post No. 119 of St. Paul and was a longtime member of the St. Paul Volunteer Fire Department. Leo enjoyed the outdoors, country life, horses and tinkering around. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Mike Buhrman. Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
