Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church in Loup City. The Rev. Richard L. Piontkowski will celebrate the Mass. Visitation will be Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the church, with a 7 p.m. Rosary.

Masks are highly recommended for the visitation and Mass.

Memorials are suggested to the North Loup Fire Department, Loup City American Legion or Ord EMT’s.

Peters Funeral Home of Loup City is assisting the family.

Karl was born on Oct. 14, 1946, at Phoenix, AZ, the son of Kenneth G. and Maralyn A. (Hoppes) Jorgensen.

As a young child, he moved with his parents to the North Loup area, where he grew up and attended country school. He was a 1964 graduate of Loup City High School.

He served in the United States Army in Vietnam from Oct. 1965 to June 1968. He then returned to North Loup to farm his grandfather’s farm.

He was united in marriage to Sandra J. Badura on June 19, 1971, at Loup City. The couple lived on a farm southwest of North Loup, where they raised their three daughters, Camie, Sarah and Jessica. Karl was well known in Central Nebraska for operating a salvage yard for many years.

He was a member of St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church and American Legion Post 48, both of Loup City. He also had served as a volunteer fireman and on the fire board for the North Loup Fire Department.

Karl loved spending time with his grandkids, talking politics, attending Vietnam veteran reunions and was a curious man that was always learning new things. He enjoyed collecting antiques and was a popular Junk Jaunt vendor in North Loup. Karl truly loved going to auctions and his family finds comfort in the fact that he was attending an auction when he fell ill last week.

He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Camie and Nick Badura of Loup City, Sarah and Tom McMaster of Omaha and Jessica Jorgensen of North Loup; four grandchildren, Sydney and Abby Badura and Thomas and Conor McMaster; siblings and spouses, Karen Rodriquez of Arizona, Kathy and Alan Bolich of Loup City, Marcy Jorgensen of St. Paul, Kris Jorgensen of North Loup and Monte and Terri Jorgensen of North Loup; and his former wife, Sandi Jorgensen of St. Paul.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and infant brother, Kenneth.
