John L. Reimers

John L. Reimers, 70, of St. Paul, died Wednesday, June 3, 2015, at his home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Zion Lutheran Church in Worms. The Rev. Craig K. Niemeier will officiate. Burial will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Worms. Visitation will be Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Peters Funeral Home in St. Paul. Mr. Reimers was born on Febr. 28, 1945, in St. Paul, the son of Robert and Evelyn (DeVore) Reimers. He is survived by his children and their spouses, Kevin and Kristin Reimers of St. Paul, Shelly and Chuck Helgoth of St. Libory, Brad and Traci Reimers of Palmer, Teresa Goettsche of St. Paul and Jason and Jodi Reimers of Lincoln; one sister, Florence Nelson of Grand Island; and one brother and two sisters-in-law, Roy and Wendy Reimers of Plano, TX. and Carol Reimers of St. Paul; and a special nephew, Allan Hancock of Elba. He also leaves to cherish his memory, 16 grandchildren, Kaden and Karsen Reimers; Broderick, Dominick and Jocelyn, Maverick and Darrick Helgoth; Hunter, Ruger, Gunner and Gatlin Reimers; Tayla, Espen and Ryker Goettsche and Bentley DuBose; and Hadley and Hudson Reimers; and one great-granddaughter, Aurora Helgoth. As a young boy, John moved with his family from St. Paul to Grand Island, where he attended Grand Island Public Schools. He was united in marriage to Karen Wozniak in 1965. To this union, Kevin, Shelly and Brad were born. He was united in marriage to Connie Meyer in 1976. To this union, Teresa and Jason were born. As a young man, John worked for Jacobs Ford in St. Paul. He later worked for Andy's Rendering and Diamond Engineering. For over 35 years, he was employed with Swift, until his retirement. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Grand Island Saddle Club, Spring Creek Saddle Club, and a former member of the Eagle's. He enjoyed horses, hunting, fishing, camping, wood working and trail riding. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Robert Reimers, Jr. and Donald Reimers; and three sisters, Inez Hancock, Lois Long and Betty Hopkins. Memorials are suggested to the donor's choice.
