Jane A. Rott

Jane Adeline Rott, 88, a longtime resident of St. Paul, died Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010, at the Heritage Living Center in St. Paul. Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in St. Paul. The Revs. Ray Kosmicki and Harry Kurtenbach will officiate. American Legion Auxiliary honors will be conducted by Legion Auxiliary Unit 119 of St. Paul. Inurnment will be in the Elmwood Cemetery in St. Paul. There will be no visitation. Mrs. Rott chose to be cremated. Peters Funeral Home of St. Paul is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Rott, the youngest of eight children, was born on Dec. 5, 1921, in Omaha, the daughter of John and Anna (Kush) Galus. She was united in marriage to Joseph C. Rott, Jr. on Aug. 12, 1958, at Papillion. He preceded her in death on April 19, 1987. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Audrey and Mike Saunders of Universal City, TX; and one daughter-in-law, Mary Williams of Grand Island. She is also survived by five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, as well as, many nieces and nephews. Jane worked in the grocery store business for many years in Omaha. She owned a corner grocery store in south Omaha, but sold the store and then worked for Hinky Dinky, until she relocated to St. Paul following her marriage in 1958. She held a variety of jobs in St. Paul including working for Dorothy Lynch’s Supper Club and Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Jane was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and its Council of Catholic Women and the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 119, both of St. Paul. She was also a Gold Star Mother as result of her son Roger Williams’s death in 1995 while serving with the U.S. Army Reserves 259th Ordnance Company of Hastings. In addition to her husband, Joe and her son, Roger, she was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, John Galus, who died in infancy in Poland and Bernard “Ben” Galus; and five sisters, Irene Galus, who died in infancy, Antoinette Votrobek, Josephine Greenslitt, Cecelia Bozak Povondra and Frances Sempek. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Sts. Peter and Paul Parish Hall Building Fund or to the donor’s choice.
