Gladys E. Covey

October 1, 1951 — January 12, 2018

Gladys E. Covey, 66, of Lakeville, MN, died Friday, Jan. 12, 2018, at the University of Minnesota Medical Center in Minneapolis, MN, after a short battle with pancreatic cancer, with her family at her side. A Liturgy of the Word service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2018, at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in St. Paul. The Rev. Richard L. Piontkowski will officiate. Cremation will take place after the services. Visitation will be held one hour before time of the service at the church. Peters Funeral Home of St. Paul is assisting the family. Gladys was born on Oct. 1, 1951, at St. Paul, the daughter of Raymond and Henrietta (Hilmer) Cyboron. Gladys grew up on the family farm near Boelus and received her education at Boelus Public School and graduated from Centura High School with the class of 1969. She then moved to Grand Island where she attended Grand Island Business School, where she earned her associates degree. She was united in marriage to Clint Covey on Sept. 1, 1973, in Rockville. Gladys was a homemaker and stay at home mom, for the most part. She did also work at Grand Island Business School, Hovland's and Fremont Elementary. Over the years she and Clint lived in Nebraska, Liberal, KS, Arvada, CO, St. Cloud, MN, South Lebanon, OH and Lakeville, MN. Gladys enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, playing cards and games, watching various sports, cooking and doing crafts. She is survived by her husband, Clint Covey of Lakeville, MN; daughters, Jody and Rick Pleinis of Lakewood, CO and Sara Covey and Tim Rasmussen of Highlands Ranch, CO; siblings and spouses, Gordon Cyboron of Ravenna, Dennis Cyboron of Boelus, Glenda Cyboron of Grand Island, Donna Nielsen of St. Paul, Dan and Kim Cyboron of Ravenna and Dorothy and Doran Moss of Cairo. She is also survived by her father-in-law, Byron Covey of York; sisters-in-law and spouses, Pam and Po Pomajzl of Grand Island, Linda and Clark Kirkpatrick of Lincoln and Becky Becker of Omaha; and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her mother-in-law, Lorita Covey; brother-in-law, Mark Nielsen; and numerous aunts and uncles. Memorials are suggested to the Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation.
