Doris C. "Kay" Moraczewski

Doris C. "Kay" Moraczewski, 92, of Ashton, died Saturday, May 7, 2011, at her home. A Celebration of Life will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 21, 2011, at the Ashton Community Club in Ashton. Mrs. Moraczewski chose to have her body cremated with no visitation or viewing. Peters Funeral Home of Loup City is assisting the family. Doris was born on May 24, 1918, at Pierce, the daughter of William A. and Bertha B. (Moser) Denson. She is survived by four daughters and two sons-in-law, Roselyn and Richard Chelewski and Leslie Moraczewski, all of Ashton, Kathy and Curt Roberts and Christine Moraczewski, all of Lincoln; one son and daughter-in-law, David and Susan Moraczewski of Lincoln; 14 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Doris grew up and attended school in Pierce, graduating from Pierce High School in 1935. She was united in marriage to Lawrence Moraczewski on Oct. 12, 1940, in Omaha. The couple lived in Omaha until moving to Ashton in 1959, where they owned and operated Larry’s Tavern. She later worked at Rose Lane Home in Loup City for a number of years before her retirement. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and traveling. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lawrence; one daughter, Karen O’Brien; one great-grandson; a brother, Lester Denson; and a sister, Loree Koehn. Memorials are suggested to the family’s choice.
