Daniel Lee Kuszak

Daniel L. Kuszak, 67, of St. Paul died Monday, Feb. 18, 2008, at Bryan LGH West in Lincoln. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in St. Paul. The Rev. Ray Kosmicki will officiate. Burial will be in the Fairdale Sunrise Cemetery north of St. Paul, with graveside military honors by Carl Mogensen American Legion Post 119 of St. Paul. Visitation will be Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the church with a 7 p.m. vigil service. Peters Funeral Home of St. Paul is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Kuszak was born on Nov. 7, 1940, at Ashton, the son of Leo and Bertha (Koperski) Kuszak. He is survived by his wife, Dee Kuszak of St. Paul; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Jeni Kuszak of Lincoln, Judi and Todd Yorges of Lincoln and Kerin and Joseph Smydra of St. Paul; one son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Elizabeth Kuszak of Wolbach; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Marjorie Creason and Larry Creason both of Grand Island, Darlene and Jerry McAhren of Wood River, Bernadine and Dennis Niemann and Betty and Ron Rhoads, all of Grand Island; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Jim and Sue Kuszak of Dannebrog and Gerald Kuszak of Grand Island. He is also survived by four grandsons, Trevor and Tanner Yorges, Kale Smydra and Cody Kuszak. As a young boy, Dan moved to Minnesota with his family, where he began his education. The family later returned to Grand Island, where he graduated from Grand Island Senior High in 1960. He served in the United States Army for 2 years. Upon his discharge he returned to Grand Island where he worked for local electrical contractors. He was united in marriage to Dianna L. “Dee” Foley on Dec. 2, 1967, at Anselmo. The couple lived in Grand Island for one year before buying and moving to a farm northeast of St. Paul. Dan worked as an electrician at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Grand Island until his retirement in the fall of 1995. He continued to farm the rest of his life. He loved animals, farming, raising cattle, fishing, hunting and traveling. He was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Leon Kuszak. Memorials are suggested to the Howard County Community Hospital.
