Anise E. Cassell

Anise E. Cassell, 59, of Polk, formerly of Loup City, died Friday, March 13, 2015, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Verderette Cemetery south of Loup City. Pastor Lawrence Francis will officiate. The casket will be open at the cemetery one half hour before the service. Peters Funeral Home of Loup City is in charge of the arrangements. Mrs. Cassell was born on Dec. 28, 1955, at Fremont, the daughter of Charles and Dorothy (Hammond) Thessen. She was united in marriage to Lowell D. Cassell on June 9, 1973, at Fremont. He preceded her in death on July 15, 2000. She is survived by one daughter, Tonya Cassell of Omaha; two sons and daughters-in-law, Tracey and Wilma Cassell of Broken Bow and Travis and Kimberly Cassell of Ord; one sister, Jo Thessen of Omaha; and two brothers, Loren and Marvin Thessen, both of Omaha. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Anise was raised in Fremont where she received her education and graduated from high school. After her marriage to Lowell, the couple lived in Fremont and Beatrice. In 1993, the family moved to a farm northwest of Loup City. Anise was a homemaker and had worked for Central Nebraska Community Services with the commodities and WIC programs. After Lowell's death she continued to live on the farm until Nov. 2013, when she moved with her daughter and grandson to Polk, where she lived the rest of her life. Anise was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist faith. She enjoyed writing and cooking and loved all animals. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents. Memorials are suggested to the Cassell family.
