Alice M. Langrehr

Alice M. Langrehr, 83, of St. Libory, died Saturday, July 7, 2012, at her home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Zion Lutheran Church in Worms. The Rev. Craig K. Niemeier will officiate. Burial will be in the Norwegian Cemetery northwest of Worms. Visitation will be Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the church. Peters Funeral Home of St. Paul is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Langrehr was born on Sept. 24, 1928, on the family farm north of Worms, in Merrick County, the daughter of Onen and Hedwig (Wagner) Simonson.She was baptized on Oct. 14, 1928, and confirmed on March 29, 1942, all at Zion Lutheran Church. She was united in marriage to Harvey H. Langrehr on May 5, 1945, at Zion Lutheran Church in Worms. He preceded her in death on Nov. 18, 1983. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Harvey and Cheryl Langrehr and William and Joy Langrehr, all of St. Libory; two daughters and sons-in-law, Maxine and Mike Magnuson of Papillion and Barbara and Dehn Renter of Grand Island; two sisters, May Mettenbrink of Grand Island and Rose Thede of St. Paul; one sister-in-law, Norma Jean Simonson of St.Libory; and one brother-in-law, Eugene Bredthauer of Ord. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, Sharon (Rod) Faulkner, Darrell Halsey, Brenda (Trevr) Olsen, John (Britnee) Langrehr, Jennifer (Kendall) Johnson, Stephen Renter, Gwendolyn (Michael) Eden, William O. Langrehr, Harvey H. Langrehr and Antonia Langrehr; and six great-grandchildren, Rachel Faulkner, Olivia Faulkner, Garret Olsen, Gavin Olsen, Anslee Langrehr and Kaden Johnson. Alice grew up on the family farm and attended Zion Lutheran parochial school in Worms. She farmed southeast of St. Libory, along side her husband, Harvey, their entire married life. After his death, she continued to live on the farm, the rest of her life. She was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, crossword puzzles, sewing and making quilts for her family. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Esther Van Pelt and Alma Bredthauer; brother, John Simonson; and brothers-in-law, Charles Van Pelt, Harry Thede and Bob Mettenbrink;and Harvey's siblings and their spouses, Eldor and Lula Langrehr, Otis and Luella Langrehr and Elsie and Don Fechtner. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Zion Lutheran Church or to the donor's choice.
