LOUP CITY – Agnes J. Kaslon, 89, of Loup City died Thursday, Dec. 20, 2007, at the Rose Lane Home in Loup City. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church in Loup City. The Rev. Marty Egging will officiate. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Loup City. Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the St. Francis Catholic Church in Ashton, with a 6 p.m. vigil service. Peters Funeral Home of Loup City is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Kaslon was born on May 21, 1918, on the family farm west of Farwell, the daughter of Edward and Anna (Jerabek) Hurt. She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd P. Kaslon on Aug. 4, 2002. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Jerome and Marcene Kaslon and Tom and Shirley Kaslon, all of Ashton; three daughters and sons-in-law, Betty Arlene and James Choquette of Upland, Debbie and William Lantz of Grand Rapids, MN and Pamela and Mark Koch of Hastings; one sister and brother-in-law, Arlene and Lyle Knott of Grand Island; and one brother, Daniel Hurt of Ashton. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Agnes grew up near Farwell and attended Howard County District No. 68 rural school. She then worked with her family on the farm and later for the National Youth Administration. She married Floyd P. Kaslon on June 9, 1941, at Farwell. The couple lived between Loup City and Ashton until 1942, when they purchased a farm east of Ashton. In 1977, they retired and moved into Loup City. She was a member of St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church and its Council of Catholic Women and St. Ann’s Quilters. She was also a former member of the St. Francis Altar Society in Ashton. Agnes loved quilting, appliquéing, embroidery, gardening, flowers, cooking, baking. She was a very artistic woman. In addition to her husband, Floyd, she was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Louie Hurt. Memorials are suggested to the donor’s choice.
