Mr. Wilson was born on Oct. 2, 1914, at St. Paul, the son of Walter and Katherine (Mikolayck) Wilson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian E. Wilson and a son, Kenny Wilson. He is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Shirley Wilson and Tamy and Anton Morrow, all of Elba; five sons and three daughters-in-law, Jim and Agnes Wilson of Grand Island, Don Wilson, Lonnie Wilson, Cindy Wilson, Rodney Wilson and Richard and Patty Wilson, all of Elba; 17 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. As a young boy, Bud moved with his family to the Farwell area where he attended Farwell Public School and graduated from Farwell High School. He then farmed with his uncles near Elba. He was united in marriage to Lillian E. Kaminski on Feb. 18, 1939, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Elba. The couple first farmed east of Elba, then east of Farwell and later on a farm near Dannebrog. In 1967, they moved to Elba. Over the years Bud worked at Jacob's Oil in St. Paul and in the 1970's he began working at Farmers Union Co-Op in St. Paul, where he worked for a number of years before retiring. Lillian died on Dec. 13, 2002, and he continued to live in Elba the rest of his life. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church where he served as the sexton of the church grounds and the cemetery for many years. He was also a member of Knights of Columbus Council 1918 of St. Paul. As a young man, Bud played for the Farwell baseball and softball teams and was an umpire for baseball and softball in the area for close to 50 years. Bud enjoyed playing cards, gardening, mowing and going to sporting events. His church was very important to him, as well as, the love he shared with his family. In addition to his wife and son, he was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Lucille Brannen and Bernitta Wilson; and two brothers, Rufen and Vern Wilson. Memorials are suggested to the Elba Fire and Rescue, St. Joseph's Catholic Church or the Elba Community Foundation.
