Mrs. Condell was born on Oct. 2, 1941, at Coshocton, Ohio, the daughter of Jack P. and Evelyn (Norman) Slaughter. She was united in marriage to Kenneth D. Condell on Sept. 25, 1960, at Coshocton. He preceded her in death on March 7, 1998. She is survived by two sons, Darren D. Condell of Palmer and Shawn A. Condell and Michelle Crayton of Milliken, CO; one daughter and son-in-law, Kelly and Keith Wichmann of Palmer; one sister, Donna Veldhuizen of Prescott Valley, AZ; and two brothers and one sister-in-law, Larry Slaughter and Guy and Paula Slaughter, all of Prescott Valley, AZ. She also leaves to cherish her memory four grandchildren, Jedidiah Condell and Paige Cooper, Gabrielle and Scott Saltzgaber, Chloe Wichmann and Wyatt Condell; one brother-in-law and his wife, Dean and Joan Condell of Capron, IL and one sister-in-law, Carolyn Davis of Grand Island; and many nieces and nephews. Shirley grew up on the Coshocton area and graduated from West Lafayette High School in 1959. She then moved to Chicago where she met Kenneth. After their marriage, the couple lived in the Chicago area until moving their family to Palmer in 1978. Shirley and Kenneth owned and operated the Country Package Store for a number of years. Shirley began her career as a media aide at Palmer Public School on August 1, 1987, where she worked until April 1, 2014, when health forced her into retirement. She counted her years at the school as some of her greatest blessings, endearing countless students as her own. Shirley was a member of several card and book clubs and thoroughly enjoyed time spent with her family and friends. She especially loved time spent at McHargue Lake during the summer months. Her four grandchildren were her pride and joy and she enjoyed every minute she could be with them. She also loved tending to her flower and vegetable garden and canning her produce. She loved to travel and enjoyed many trips with family and friends. She especially enjoyed exploring the fine winery's in Nebraska and playing the game, tripoley. In addition to her husband, Kenneth, she was preceded in death by her parents. In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials are suggested to Palmer Rescue School, Palmer Public School or Sts. Peter & Paul Parish Life Center Fund.
