Evelyn Irene Bader

Evelyn I. Bader, 92, of St. Libory, died Monday, Feb. 5, 2018, at Tiffany Square Care Center in Grand Island. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church in Worms. The Rev. Craig K. Niemeier will officiate. Burial will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Worms. Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the church. Peters Funeral Home of St. Paul is assisting the family. Evelyn was born on Feb. 8, 1925, on the family farm in Howard County, near St. Libory, the daughter of Hugo and Marie (Meyer) Niemoth. She attended St. Libory School District 26, as well as, Zion Lutheran Parochial School in Worms. As a young girl she helped on the family farm and worked at Kaufmann's Dime Store in Grand Island. At the age of seventeen she moved to Grand Island where she worked at Fairmont Creamery. She was united in marriage to Harold Bader on Oct. 3, 1948, at Zion Lutheran Church in Worms. The couple lived their entire married life on the family farm, north of Worms. Harold died on Sept. 16, 1993. Evelyn continued to live on the farm until Feb. 2016 when she moved to the Country House in Grand Island, later moving to Tiffany Square, where she lived the rest of her life. Evelyn enjoyed playing cards, bowling, gardening, yardwork, baking and cooking and she loved to host family and friends in her home. She was lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church where she was active in the Dorcas Ladies Aid and Lutheran LaymansLeague. She also was a member of the Platt-Duetsche and the Red Hat Ladies. She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Jack Bader Baker of Seattle, WA, Beverly and Dale Rubesh of St. Libory, and Kristy and Gary Smith of Palmer; eight grandchildren, Viva Bader Baker of Seattle, WA, Jeffrey and Lindsay Patterson of Glenwood Springs, CO, Aaron and Allison Rubesh of St. Paul, Ashley and Daniel Hake of Palmer, Brock and Alissa Smith of Grand Island, Wesley Smith of St. Libory, Garrison and Kylie Smith of Clarks and Haleigh Smith and fiance' Nick Richards of Papillion. She is also survived by 15 great-grandchildren, Emory and Brooklyn Patterson, Bradley, Gracyn, Landyn and Adalyn Rubesh, Ella, Penelope and Nora Hake, Adreya, Vance, Lauren, Jax and Charlotte Smith and Lola Smith; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Jean Bangert of Seward and Rosella and Rob Hiegel of St. Libory. In addition to her husband, Harold, she was preceded in death by her parents; infant son, Howard Allen Bader; brother and sister-in-law, Wilmer and Verna Mae Niemoth; and brother-in-law, Fred Bangert. Memorials are suggested to Zion Lutheran Church or to the family's choice.
