Dennis D. Wardyn, 45, of Loup City, died Saturday, Aug. 9, 2014, at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Josaphat's Catholic Church in Loup City. The Revs. Marty Egging and Tom Ryan will officiate. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Loup City. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the church, with a 6 p.m. vigil service. Peters Funeral Home of Loup City is in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Wardyn was born on Aug. 23, 1968, in Ord, the son of Donald S. and Dolores A. (Lubash) Wardyn. He was united in marriage to Donna J. Jonak on May 5, 2001, at Loup City. He is survived by his wife, Donna J. Wardyn; three daughters, Sydney, Natalie and Zoe Wardyn, all at home; a sister, Diane Wardyn of Loup City; and one brother and sister-in-law, David and Cindy Wardyn of Broken Bow. Dennis grew up on farms near Ord, Arcadia and Loup City and was a 1986 graduate of Loup City High School. He worked for Tony McCarville and Henry “Hank” Wilson, Jr. in farming and ranching. He later worked for the Sherman County Roads Department and his last employment was with Ken's Equipment in Loup City. Dennis enjoyed guns, farming and raising cattle and dearly loved his family. He was a member of the Catholic faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Dolores Wardyn; his grandparents, Edward and Rose Lubash and Stanley and Stella Wardyn; and his father-in-law, Reginald Jonak. In lieu of flowers and plants, the family requests that memorials be given to establish and education fund for his daughters.
