Amy Jo Gatewood

September 8, 1966 — March 6, 2015

Amy Jo (Badura) Gatewood, 48, of Omaha, formerly of Loup City, died Friday, March 6, 2015, at her home surrounded by her family, unable to prevail in her battle with cancer. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Josaphat's Catholic Church in Loup City. The Revs. Marty Egging and Mike McDermott will officiate. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Loup City. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the church, with a 7 p.m. vigil service. Peters Funeral Home of Loup City is in charge of the arrangements. Ms. Gatewood was born on Sept. 8, 1966, at Loup City, the daughter of Murl J. and Dolores M. (Markvicka) Badura. She is survived by her two lovely children, Maggie and Hunter Gatewood of Omaha; her mother, Dolores Badura of Loup City; brothers and sisters, Loren Badura and friend, Carollee Krahulik of Loup City, Janelle Badura and friend, Johnny Schooley of Des Moines, Iowa, Karlynn and Todd Quam of Las Vegas, Mark and Janietta Badura of Waterloo, Iowa, John Badura and friend, Corrie Cronin of Loup City, James Badura of Omaha, Sherri Badura and friend, Johnnie Mason of Loup City, Gary “Cable” Badura of Loup City and Paul and Amy Badura of Omaha. She also leaves to cherish her memory, many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Amy grew up in Loup City where she received her education and graduated from Loup City High School in 1985. She then attended McConnell Travel School in Minneapolis, MN. She was united in marriage to Dennis Gatewood on Oct. 28, 1989, at Loup City. The couple was married for 15 years and to this union two wonderful children were born, Maggie Marie Gatewood and Hunter Cole Gatewood. After Amy received her education in travel training for the airline industry, she was employed with Delta Airlines for her entire working career of over 25 years. Amy loved spending time with her kids and attending their various activities. She also enjoyed attending concerts and movies with her family and friends. Amy was an avid Husker sports enthusiast and enjoyed collecting Precious Moments, baking, cooking and making customized fleece blankets for family and close friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Murl J. Badura; her maternal and paternal grandparents; one brother-in-law, Rod Beck; and a nephew, Anthony Badura. In lieu of floral tributes, memorials are requested to the family for her children's education.
