Monty M. Mamot

Monty M. Mamot, 48, of St. Paul, died Monday, July 23, 2012, in Grand Island.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in St. Paul. The Revs. Ray Kosmicki, Sidney Bruggeman and Michael McDermott will officiate. Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery in St. Paul.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the church, with a 7:45 p.m. vigil service.

Peters Funeral Home of St. Paul is in charge of arrangements.

Monty was born on May 10, 1964, at St. Paul, the son of Larry and Nancy (Uleman) Mamot.

He is survived by two daughters, Shelbea Mamot and Sarah Mamot, both of St. Paul; two sons, Skyler Mamot and Payton Mamot; both of St. Paul; his mother and step-father, Nancy and Ned Meier of Grand Island; his grandmother, Rosella Mamot of Grand Island; one brother and sister-in-law, Daron and Tammy Mamot of St. Libory; and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Susanne and Tony Guyette of St. Libory and Dayla and Jon Sack of Grand Island.

Monty grew up on the family farm southwest of St. Libory and attended District 118 School and graduated from St. Paul High School in 1982. He then attended UN-L for one year and then Kansas State University for two years.

He returned to St. Libory where he worked at the family business, Mamot Feedlots. He was united in marriage to Jamie Helzer on April 28, 1990, at St. Paul, the couple lived near St. Libory, until moving to St. Paul in 2000.

He was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, the Nebraska Cattleman’s Association and was a former Little League Baseball coach.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing.

He was preceded in death by his father, Larry Mamot; and his grandparents, Zenon Mamot and Forrest and Lavina Uleman.

In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.
